Do not count yourself out

Throughout the Bible, we see God teaching and using people, we as human beings in our fleshly nature will reject our judge them because of their mistakes. Reading through the book of John chapter 4, the story of the woman at the well taught me something about God’s love which I will love to share with you.

God loves you no matter what your past may be. Not far into the conversation, Jesus tells the woman to go call her husband to which the woman says “I have no husband..” 4:17 NKJV. Jesus confirms this by saying it is true. Not only did she not have a husband, but had also had 4 husbands. In those days a woman with such a lifestyle was heavily judged and condemned. Yet Jesus without any condemnation, shared the true gospel with her.

God does not care about your skin color, race, sex, or ethnicity. He created us all in his own image and loved us from the beginning of creation. As soon as Jesus starts speaking to her we see how shocked she was. She says ” How is that You, being a Jew ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman? For Jews for Jews have no dealings with Samaritans” 4:9. God continuously knocks on the door of our hearts to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. If only you will hear his voice and answer the door he will give you the Living water which will never make you thirst again. What is this Living water you ask? This is what says in verse 14.The water Jesus gives will become a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life thus you will never thirst again. How refreshing! The comfort in knowing the rest that comes with accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior.

No matter what you past is, God has a plan for your life. It is amazing that Jesus did not choose anyone else to go proclaim the good news in Samaria about his arrival. Think about it. He walked around with disciples, he knew of other good men amongst the people of Samaria, or someone of “good standing” in the community. Who did he choose? He chose a woman whom despite her being regarded in the community as a woman of “low moral character” because of her marriage to 5 husbands and was now living with a man who was not her husband, to go spread the good news of his arrival. The arrival of the Son of the most high God. Our king, the Messiah, the Prince of peace, the one who defeated all the works of the enemy on the Cross. What an honor it was for her to do that.

All of this to say please, do not count yourself out. God loves you despite your past. He is ready to give you his Living water if you will let Him. If you have accepted Christ as your Lord and savior, do not feel less than the person next to you because of your past or shortcomings thinking people will judge or not receive you when you do his works or share the gospel of Christ. God says in his word that He is the one softens the hearts of men to receive his Word. So, all you have to do is be in obedience and God will do the rest. I pray that the Almighty God will bless you in all you do.
